When the sun shines here....

......then I think we live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. And our patience through the winter is rewarded.

We live in a neighborhood with a great beach and quite a few dogs. They always find a friend in Nakiah.

A sunny day in Kodiak sets Tovi aglow. Of course, she is usually glowing anyway.

This is our good friend, Tommy. He started off as Mr. Tom, Tovi's preschool teacher, but we're learning to drop the title. He's like the girls' uncle away from home, and perhaps they are like his nieces away from home, too, since he comes from afar. He actually let our 5-yr-old shave his head. His real nieces and nephews must miss this guy to death.

Tommy showed us the inside of the fishing boat he's working out of this summer. What a messy, crazy, hard, amazing job.

Standing in a boat in St. Paul's harbor, looking toward our old dwelling on the hill behind. That's why Kodiak is called Alaska's Emerald Isle.
